The first H.E.R.M.E.S.-Unis Think-Pad about entrepreneurship took place in the Treviso Campus of the Ca’ Foscari University on June 17th-20th, 2015.
The event is the preview of the forthcoming Master in Entrepreneurship that the HERMES-Unis Network Annual Meeting in Bratislava decided to launch.
All the students enrolled in a double degree within the H.E.R.M.E.S. network Universities (more than 100, this year!) have been invited to attend this event in Treviso. Fifteen were selected but only thirteen of them decided to participate: ten students from Hohenheim, two students from Ca’ Foscari and one student from Strasbourg.
The program was very intensive: after the participants’ welcome, an Italian happy hour with the deputy-Major of the City of Treviso, Prof. Luciano Franchin, two days of lectures, speeches and visits.
Thursday 18th June started with the welcome address by: H.E.R.M.E.S. Secretary-General, Ludwig Kreitz, the current and honorary Presidents, Guido Mantovani and Hans J. Tümmers, respectively.
Guido Mantovani, Professor of Corporate Finance at Ca’ Foscari University, gave the first lecture, titled “The Competence Value, why to use the entrepreneurial finance to estimate the financial value of human capital”.
Then, followed Ugo Bot and Madison Bonovich, from The Loop (www.jointheloop.org) that talked about “Social innovation entrepreneurship”.
The afternoon was instead dedicated to the visit at the incubator “Fornace di Asolo” (http://www.fondazionefornace.org/en_Default.asp).
The second day started with the lecture “Successful innovation strategies – public and private policies” from Hans J. Tümmers, the H.E.R.M.E.S honorary President’s and Political Sciences Professor.
Then followed Santiago Ramon Torres, Professor of Economics and Management at the Alcala University, which spoke about “Entrepreneurs’ language, the importance of the words we use in the Network”.
The afternoon was dedicated to professionals’ experiences.
The first speech, titled “The Italian chains of new manufacturing: a “room” of multidimensional strategic relationships”, was given by Federico Callegari, from the Economic Development Area of Treviso Chamber of Commerce.
Cristina Levis, Managing Director of Silversea Expeditions, gave the second one, titled “How to leverage university education in the working world”.
During the entire seminar, the PGreco T brotherhood was present, and gave a great help for the success of this first H.E.R.M.E.S. Think-Pad!
Thanks to this profitable collaboration, they were asked to prepare a project of the next Alumni-Brotherhood for the HERMES-Unis as a whole.
The students have been overall satisfied by this experience; they appreciated the lectures, the PGreco T contribution, the location, the whole organization They also gave some useful suggestions for the next projects, such as: include a workshop, more practical activities, more company visits.
