The University of Vaasa was established in 1968 as the Vaasa School of Economics. Located in Western Finland on the shores of the Gulf of Bothnia, the university has evolved into a distinctive institution combining expertise in business, technology, and social sciences. With over 6,000 students, the University of Vaasa is one of Finland’s leading public universities, particularly renowned as the largest educator in business studies in Finland.

The university is organised into four schools: the School of Management, School of Accounting and Finance, School of Marketing and Communication, and School of Technology and Innovations. This unique structure reflects the university’s mission to promote sustainable business, energy transition, and societal transformation through innovative and high-quality research and education that address global challenges.

The University of Vaasa prides itself on its strong international approach and commitment to excellence. In 2024, the university achieved AACSB accreditation, placing it among the top 6% of business schools worldwide. The university ranks first in Finland for research quality and 22nd globally in business administration according to the Shanghai Ranking.

With more than 10% international students and 30% international faculty representing 32 countries, the University of Vaasa offers a truly global learning environment. The institution maintains partnerships with over 190 universities in nearly 50 countries and offers 16 double degree programmes at both bachelor’s and master’s levels with internationally accredited partner institutions.

The double-degree agreement with the University of Pavia (Italy) includes two tracks to choose from: (1) Digital Management (e.g. courses on Big Data Analytics, Information Systems for Managers, and Coding and Database Management), and (2) Sustainability (e.g. courses on Performance Management of ESG Practices, Sustainability Reporting, Governance, and Ethics, and Digital Sustainability
